It isn’t just the hair on top of your head that thins as you age. Your eyebrows can also start to thin out as time marches on. Thinning brows can make you look older, since young women usually don’t have the same issue. Not only that, but thinning eyebrows can dramatically alter the overall appearance of your face. Do you long for the lush eyebrows of your youth? Here are several eyebrow fixes for thinning brows. Rogaine Some anecdotal evidence supports claims that Rogaine can help with thinning brows. Rogaine contains minoxidil, an antihypertensive vasodilator medication used to treat hair loss. Although the manufacturer only provides instruction on applying Rogaine to the scalp, it’s possible that Rogaine might be effective with the hair growth of eyebrows, too. However, since the eyebrows are so close to your eyes, it’s recommended that you seek a professional if you want to try this kind of treatment. Cosmetic Tattoos If your eyebrows still have some hair, but are severely thin, you might consider cosmetic tattoos like microblading. Treatments like microblading are not as permanent as you might think, so over time you may have the procedure done again. More permanent solutions are available if you’re committed to never changing your brow style. Your spa esthetician will be able to perform this procedure in as little as an hour or two. The result will be something that can barely be noticeable from your natural brows. Stencils and Powder For a temporary solution to thinning brows, consider carefully applied brow powder used with a stencil. This technique is time consuming until you get the hang of it. After that, it could easily become part of your daily beauty routine. For best results, have your spa esthetician do this the first few times for you so you can learn how to get the most realistic shape and color. This is also a great way to experiment with different brow looks for drama and beauty. Wunderbrow Eyebrow Gel Wunderbrow is a gel formulation that contains synthetic fibers that mimic authentic eyebrow hair. It’s applied with a mascara-like wand. The product is waterproof and smudgeproof, so it will last all day and possibly even longer. It comes in five shades, so you can get exactly the look you desire. It can even be used to darken or lighten your natural brow color if you want. The good news is that you’ve got lots of options when it comes to filling out thinning brows. One of the above options is sure to give you great results.

Did you know that selecting the appropriate shoe for your workout can make a major difference in performance, comfort, and preventing injuries? That’s right. When shopping for workout shoes, one sneaker doesn’t fit all. Choosing the wrong shoe can lead to shin splints, back pain, knee pain, and even numbness in your feet, according to podiatrists (i.e. foot doctors). Here’s what you should look for based on your workout preferences: Running If you’re lacing up your sneakers for a run, be sure they have built-in stability, cushion, and motion control—but in the right areas. When you run, the ball of your foot strikes the ground first. This requires more cushion in this area to absorb shock and prevent injuries. Look for light-weight running-specific shoes that have stiffer heels and appropriate arch support. Getting a gait analysis from a fitness expert can help you select the best shoe for you. Cycling Depending on your choice of cycling surface—trail, road, or spinning—you’ll require a different shoe. The best shoes for cycling have moderate to hard soles that allow your feet to remain on the pedals. These shoes should also be breathable and decrease any strain on the balls of the feet. Hiking Hiking shoes require heavily-treaded outsoles with good support and stability to prevent falls on rugged terrain. These shoes often have stiff, wider toe boxes that protect toes from impact against rocks. Hiking shoes should also be mid to high-cut in breathable and waterproof materials. Cross-Training Shoes for weight-lifting typically have thin soles (think Converse) and flat bottoms. However, if you are strength-training in addition to performing other causal sports, a good cross-trainer may be appropriate as well. These provide decent cushion and stability for activities like aerobics, basketball, and light jogging. Selecting the correct type of shoes is important, but so is choosing the correct fit. Overall, you’re searching for the right comfort level and optimal performance based on your chosen activity. Make sure the next time you purchase workout shoes you speak with a trained fitness professional who can guide you in making the right choice.

One of the recurring themes we hear from stylists (and even owners on a regular basis), is “I don’t like to sell”. Here are some real truths: every service organization is selling something– either products, services or the people who give it. If a client comes back to see a stylist a second time, it’s because the stylist has sold their service value. That’s selling! So guess what: we are in the business of selling. The sale makes the customer. It took me a minute to get it, but here’s what it means: we often think that it is the customer that makes the sale, but if you change it around and look at it in a different light, you start to realize that the point of sale can be the pivot point in creating a long-time customer. As an example, Catherine and I were out shopping the other day in a store we hadn’t frequented before. We weren’t offered any help on the floor, but finally found what we were looking for and proceeded to check out. We weren’t given any love there, either! Our discussion on leaving was, “Well, they didn’t make a customer there!” That idea of “the sale makes the customer” came back to me and I finally got it. If that store had given us the feeling that our attendance was appreciated and our business was worth something, that store could have made long-time customers out of us. So, let’s think about what goes into the sale. Of course, the most important aspect of a sale is to have a customer! That means prospecting or finding the customers to frequent our business. Once we have a prospective customer, we offer to sell them something; in our industry, of course, we are offering time slots for services, and take home products for maintenance. This is often where we, as an industry, fall down on the job. We leave all the decisions to the customer. We let them direct our business because we don’t help them in the decision making process. What makes a successful business is a returning client. They don’t come back unless you ask them! They don’t buy anything unless you ask them! Most of us are not trained to sell. Selling isn’t a skill that you are born with; it is a skill that you develop. Make no mistake, every business that you and your employees will work for, will be sales organizations. You are either selling products, services, or your own personality. In our industry, the products and services we sell to our clients enrich their lives. We are their beauty experts. We ensure that their hair, fashion, scalp-health, skin care is up-to-date and increases their sense of wellness. We ENRICH their lives! Let’s change our attitude towards presenting our products and services to our clients and ENRICH their lives with our talents and products. Let’s break down ENRICHING into something easy and manageable. Here’s Enrichment 101 in a nutshell! Let’s ASSUME every client or customer wants what we have to offer and offer it to them. Let’s word our offer in such a way that it ends up guiding our client in the decision making process. To do that we simply offer them ALTERNATIVES until we have satisfied their needs. Here are a couple of examples: “Mary, you will notice re-growth from your colour in about four to six weeks. Let’s book your next appointment in that time frame so that your colour stays fresh. What works best for you: the beginning or the end of the week? Morning or afternoon? Which time works best for you, 9:00 or 11:00? “ “Mary, the colour care shampoo we talked about to hold your colour investment is available in either an 8.5 ounce size or a liter size. Which works best for you? It sounds simple, yet stylists and front-end staff often struggle with these simple techniques. The best way to overcome this objection is to create some simple scripts for employees to use and you can create your own, like the samples above. Then make sure that every staff member has a copy. The consistency of dialogue is very important. After a day or two of scripted dialogue, the conversation becomes your own! Let’s face it; you can be the greatest technician in the world, but if you don’t have a client in your chair, are you still a stylist? We need clients to be stylists! To get clients, we have to sell our services. So, let’s get out there and practice!

Nikki Reed and Ian Somerhalder Apologize After Retelling ‘Goofy’ Story About Throwing Out Birth Control
by Maria Pasquini @ PEOPLE.com
Sat Sep 23 14:04:04 PDT 2017
On Saturday, Nikki Reed shared a statement from her and her husband Ian Somerhalder about how sorry they both were about the controversy stemming from an interview where they discussed how they decided they wanted to have a child.
“To anyone who has been affected by reproductive coercion, we are deeply sorry,” Reed, 29, and Somerhalder, 38, wrote in a joint statement on Twitter. “That is an extremely serious issue, and women’s rights is something that is incredibly important to both of us. It is something we’ve been very vocal about, and something that is very close to our hearts.”
“We never expected a lighthearted interview we did poking fun at EACH OTHER and how WE chose together to get pregnant,” they continued. “A goofy moment in Barcelona with our two best friends and the anticipation of our journey together as we went from two to three, to turn into something representing a very serious matter.“
“However, if this somehow sheds light on a topic that definitely needs mainstream attention, then we are grateful for the unintended consequence,” they added. “It’s a shame that outlets chose this as their way into a very serious discussion, as we are certainly not qualified to be the faces of this topic.”
“We are two happily married people who chose TOGETHER to have a baby. The end,” they continued. “Love, Nikki and Ian.”

In an interview with Dr. Berlin’s Informed Pregnancy Podcast, Reed and Somerhalder revealed that while vacationing in Barcelona, Spain, in 2016, he went into her bag and threw out her birth control pills – while she was watching.
“It was the beginning of the pack, so I had to pop all those suckers out,” Somerhalder said.
The couple laughed about the whole incident, going on to share that the decision to start a family was made together with their close friends so they could all hopefully raise their children together.
But some people felt that the incident was troubling.
“Dear writer. Here’s my note to you on irresponsible journalism,” she wrote, alongside a screenshot of a lengthier message addressing an “article this morning claiming my husband tried to ‘force (me) into pregnancy?!’ ”
RELATED VIDEO: Ian Somerhalder and Nikki Reed Expecting First Child
“When you actually listen to the podcast (which I’m sure you didn’t) you’ll hear how ‘unforced’ I felt,” wrote Reed. “Ha! Also, ‘unconsented’ bull—- is you speaking on my behalf in a story admittedly taken out of context for the purpose of stirring up drama WITHOUT my approval. ”
Continued the Twilight alum, “Don’t talk about consent to me. And lastly, how dare you try to cast a dark shadow over one of the happiest most memorable days of my life – you’re not only disrespecting me but my baby.”
“Oh, and next time you try to stand up for women by writing an article ‘about women’s rights,’ try properly conveying the way I felt,” concluded Reed. “It’s a shame that this was your way in. You have a platform, write about things that matter by using truthful stories, not gossip.”
In some earlier messages on the social media site, Reed further championed women’s rights, writing, “We should be talking about these things, but using a funny interview between married ppl & twisting it to perpetuate gossip is irresponsible.”
WOMEN'S RIGHTS MATTER, so please don't use false narratives to highlight issues that are truly important!

Reed and Somerhalder welcomed their first child, daughter Bodhi Soleil, on July 25.
The couple also talked about planning for Bodhi’s birth during the podcast, with Reed admitting that while she didn’t suffer morning sickness, she dealt with overall fears about pregnancy.
“I think the thing that plagued me the most, actually, was the medical industry,” admitted Reed. “Just all the rules and guidelines and paranoia, and all the things they put into your head about what you could possibly do wrong.”

Blackheads, zits, pimples… they are the worst nightmare of any teen on the eve of prom, or a bride nearing her wedding and are a nuisance to anyone who wishes for clean, flawless skin. If you are like most, your go-to treatment for this common, yet pesky skin problem is to pop it. Turns out, according to Sandra Lee, a dermatologist more commonly referred to as “Dr. Pimple Popper” and other skin experts featured on Allure, this is the last thing you should do to remedy the problem at least not in the traditional way. Read below to learn more about what you “shouldn’t” do to get rid of blackheads: 1. Don’t Pop Them Too Early We just mentioned that you shouldn’t pop a blackhead at will. Dr. Lee says her mantra is “Know when you pop and know when you stop.” The good doctor explains that popping a blackhead at the wrong time can lead to all kinds of issues, perhaps the most severe being scarring. This is, of course, the last thing you want. Therefore, in order to ensure you do the least damage possible, you need to wait until the pimple has a head. In other words, when it’s still a red zit situated deep under your skin, don’t force it up. You can apply warm compresses to move the process along though. 2. Don’t Use Your Fingers Saying “don’t pop zits” is something most dermatologists say but know you and everyone else will likely ignore. Therefore, since Dr. Lee knows popping will happen, she recommends you use a tool, not your fingers to complete the task. This will prevent infection from your fingernails and also will reduce the trauma on the surrounding skin. One tool she recommends is a comedone extractor. Use it by rotating it around the blackhead, pushing around it, not on the blackhead itself. 3. Don’t Keep Messing With it It is just human nature to mess with a zit, even after it’s been popped. Dr. Lee says this is a big no, no. Instead, once you have popped the pimple, treat it will any antibiotic cream, peroxide or topical acne treatment and then leave it alone. If you keep touching it, the risk of infection to the area and eventual scarring increases. Remember, the less you touch it, the quicker it will calm down, the redness will go away and you will begin to look like your amazingly beautiful self once again.

You head to the gym to get healthy, but if you are not taking the proper precautions against germs, parasites and even fungi, you could end up sick. Here are 4 surefire ways to get ill or injured at the gym. 1. Not Investing in your Own Equipment Sure, the gym tries to keep up, but you have no way of knowing who used that communal yoga mat yet, and you’re about to place your hands all over it. Cold and flu germs can survive on plenty of gym surfaces, from yoga mats to the handles of your favorite pieces of equipment and even the water fountain. Bypass your own basic supplies and you could pick up a cold, the flu or worse. 2. Skipping the Shower Shoes A simple pair of slide on shoes or flipflops can do more than keep you from slipping and injuring yourself, they can keep you from catching a nasty fungus too. Even if you skip the shower, the fungi that causes athlete’s foot could be lurking on the floor, according to the American Academy of Dermatology. 3. Not Fueling Up Before or After You may be heading there to lose weight, but failing to eat something healthy before you go and after you are done could make you feel tired and unwell. You’ll be burning though calories and expending energy – and the goal of heading to the gym is to feel better, not worse. Water is essential as well; skip hydrating and you could wake up on the (germ covered) gym floor after an episode of dizziness. 4. Not Wiping Down the Entire Machine Before and After Using It You may take a swipe at the seat (good) or even wipe down the handles (better) but if you’re neglecting the headrest of that piece of equipment, you could come away with more than buff abs. Lice are a dirty little gym secret that no one wants to talk about, but that can be transmitted at the gym. Wipe down everything – and be safe rather than sorry. Making an investment in your own equipment and taking care to wipe down machines (including the head rest) before you use them can considerably cut your risk of becoming ill. You’re heading to the gym to get healthy, so these simple precautions ensure you don’t end off feeling worse than you did before you went to the gym.
If you haven't tried a self-heating facial mask yet, you definitely should. The concept is simple: When exposed to water, the ingredients in the mask create...
Even though I love using face masks, it's one of those skincare treatments that I often neglect. Probably one of the reasons for this, is the fact that you have to wait about 10 to 20 minutes for an average mask to dry and do its magic. Enter Biore's Self Heating Mask- a mask that will only take up a minute of your time.

Soaking in the warmth of the sun is relaxing when you’re sunbathing on the beach, but harmful UV rays can sprinkle your skin with spots and wrinkles. And if you’re fair-skinned, simply stepping outside without sunscreen can summon the sun’s wrath upon your face. Sun damage doesn’t have to leave a permanent mark. Thanks to the latest skincare treatments, clearer skin can be yours. And remember, prevention is key. Make applying sunscreen with an SPF 30 or higher part of your morning routine. Your skin will thank you. Erase Sun Spots with Microdermabrasion How does exfoliating away sun spots sound? That’s essentially what microdermabrasion does. Microdermabrasion is the pain-free rejuvenation treatment anyone can try. An esthetician simply sprays tiny crystals onto your skin and then vacuums them up for a process that is more powerful than at-home methods while remaining gentle. By removing the outermost layer of skin, through a series of treatments, microdermabrasion can fade sun spots. Peel Away Sun Damage with Chemical Peels If you’ve never had a peel before, the idea of purposely injuring the skin with chemicals to remove layers and promote new growth might sound a little crazy. But medium-depth peels, like like trichloroacetic acid (TCA) and glycolic acid are perfectly safe and work wonders on wrinkles acne, and sun spots because they penetrate both the deeper layer of the epidermis and the superficial dermis of the skin. Depending on your skin type and the severity of your sun damage, you may need a series of peels to achieve ultimate results. Fight Spots and Wrinkles with Antioxidant Facials Enjoy some “me time” and treat yourself to an antioxidant rich facial. Antioxidants are not only are anti-aging fighters, but they also reduce sun damage on the skin. If wrinkles are your nemesis, ask for a facial rich in beta-carotene. Vitamins A (retinol) and vitamin C give a one-two punch to sun spots by reducing the pigmentation and brightening the skin. Vitamins work great in combination on the skin. According to the Journal of Dermato-Endocrinology, vitamins C, B3, and E do the best job at penetrating the skin through their small molecular weight.

Kim Kardashian West has one of the most well-known (and most photographed) bottoms in Hollywood. And according to the 36-year-old reality star’s Snapchats on Saturday, it takes a lot of work to maintain that legendary booty!
“Today is major leg day,” the star explained, while wearing an all-black workout ensemble and letting her new platinum hair lay loose.
First up were hex deadlift squats using a cap barbell weight bar (or trap bar).
Next, the Keeping Up with the Kardashians star launched into a cycle of weighted power sled pulls, Romanian deadlifts, and seated leg presses.
She ended her workout with glute kickbacks on a weighted leg curl machine.
Fitness was never something Kardashian West was passionate until some unflattering paparazzi photos of her on vacation in Mexico inspired the star to find a whole new way to get in shape.
“I saw these awful photos of myself when I was on a trip in Mexico and people were photoshopping them and sharpening them,” Kardashian West explained on The View in June.
The aggressive photo editing and media scrutiny came at a particularly bad time for the multifaceted mogul, who is mom to 21-month-old son Saint and daughter North, who turned 4 in June.
“I mean I definitely was not in my best shape. I hadn’t worked out in 12 weeks,” she said. “I had two surgeries on my uterus … I was already not feeling like myself, and then when people were sharpening them and making them look way worse and then those were going around, I was like, ‘Okay. I’m gonna get it together.’ ”
To help, Kardashian West linked up with a bodybuilder she met on social media to formulate a better routine. Describing the new regimen, Kardashian West said, “I definitely think that you have to do the work. I get up every morning between 5:30 and 6; workout before my kids get up. I’ve been working out for an hour and a half .”
FROM PEN: Half Their Size: The Weight Loss Stars Get Total Makovers
Along with her dedicated gym time, Kardashian West also “totally changed diet” after realizing a key mistake she was making.
“I was eating less thinking like, ‘Okay. I’m just not gonna eat this,’ ” she explained of her old dieting habits. “But I was eating absolutely no carbs or trying to and that’s really hard for me.”
Her new workout buddy, however, helped her solve this problem. “She’s really helped me with my meal plan to definitely add healthy carbs, vegetables. I was just not eating properly.”
Kardashian West isn’t the only member of the KarJenner clan spilling her workout secrets.
Sister Khloé Kardashian reveled the secrets of her revenge booty in a Khlo-Fit video on her app on Sept. 6 — turning the lens over to her trainer, Don Brooks and pilates instructor Shannon Nadj for the demo.
Brooks walked app subscribers through his Matrix Method, which includes four quarters, with two exercises a quarter, each done for three sets.
The first exercise in the first quarter is a basic lunge, repeated 20 times on each side. The series is then repeated on a Bosu ball, this time with only 10 reps on each side.
In the second set of the first quarter, Nadj jumps laterally into the squat position, repeating the move with 20 reps on each side. Again, the exercise is repeated on the Bosu ball.
Moving on to the second quarter, Nadj does dynamic squats for 20 reps, before repeating the exercise on the Bosu ball for an additional 20 reps.
The second set of the second quarter is jump switch lunges. Nadj jumps three times and lands in a lunge, repeating 20 times on each side. This move is also repeated on the Bosu ball for 20 reps.
Brooks’ complete workout with Kardashian is expected in a later clip.

Suffering for beauty is not a new thing. For centuries women have been doing terrible things to their skin and bodies all in the name of beauty. While it is widely believed that many of these beauty trends are no longer in practice, there are still some that are rather alarming. Are you partaking in any of these dangerous skincare trends? Mercury in Your Skin Cream Bottom line here, beware when purchasing skincare products from import stores. The FDA identified a lengthy list of products from these sources that included mercury. Most of these are skin lightening creams, but a few had other purposes. Before purchasing, check the label for mercury but be aware that it can also be listed under other names including calomel, mercurio, mercurous chloride, or mercuric. Mineral Makeup Mineral makeup is usually considered to be a more natural, better makeup that is better for your skin, but an ingredient in some brands cause concerns. Mica and several other minerals are common ingredients which aren’t bad, but it’s particles can become airborne and inhaled, resulting in lung damage. On construction sites, workers who use products like Spackle that contain mica wear masks to avoid breathing in the particles. While there are no formal warnings yet, it is worth keep an eye on the ingredients list and how you use the product. Arsenic as an Impurity of some Skincare Ingredients Arsenic is a toxic carcinogen linked to cancer and other serious health issues. It’s something you don’t want near you, but it could be lurking in your skincare products as an impurity of other ingredients. The ingredients hydrogenated cottonseed glyceride, polyvinyl acetate, hydrogenated cotton seed oil, octenylsuccinate, and aluminum starch may contain arsenic as an impurity. Failure to Read the Labels on Your Beauty Products Did you know that you absorb as much as 60 percent of what you put on your skin? It’s true and what you don’t know could make you very sick and even kill you. Benzoyl peroxide, FD&C color and pigments, sodium lauryl sulfate and other toxic substances may be lurking in your beauty products and you won’t even know it if you don’t read labels. This infographic provides a great list of toxic compounds found in beauty products.

Braids are a time-honored hairstyle that women have worn to commemorate every occasion under the sun, from weddings to first dates, school celebrations to spiritual events. If you’re looking for a gorgeous braided ‘do for your next to-do, one of these choices might just work for you. 1. Accent Braids Small braids scattered throughout the hair lend an elfin look to any outfit. Whether you opt for tiny braids framing the face and buried in the hair, or larger side braids on either side of the head, both are perfect for long, loose locks. 2. Braids to a Half-Pony Braids are beautiful worn down around the face, but they make an equally sleek statement pulled straight up to the back of the head in a half-pony. This style works particularly well for natural hair, although straighter hair also looks lovely when half of it is bound into small braids and pulled up, and the rest worn loose around the shoulders. 3. Crown of Braids The crown of braids is an age-old style, appropriate to queens and commoners alike. For those who don’t have quite enough hair mass for this ‘do, a set of clip-in extensions dyed to match do the trick nicely. 4. Daenerys Targaryen Braids The Mother of Dragons always has a fantastic hairstyle, no matter how many battles she goes through. Grab her look with multiple layers of braids, each pair gathered at the back and flowing down into the one below, like this. 5. Dressy Fishtail The mermaid-like perfect of fishtail braids is well known to beach girls everywhere. What more perfect way to sweep back your tresses? For a dressier take on the fishtail, start a smaller fishtail braid at the crown, then blend it into the larger version below. Or in hair at the nape of the neck with a statement clasp before beginning the style. Once you’ve chosen your poison – sorry, your braid – it’s time to get some professional help. Make sure to book your salon appointment several weeks before the big day. If it’s for a dance or wedding in your town, make sure you book it out even further to make sure a rush doesn’t make getting an appointment impossible. Bring pictures the day of so you can show your stylist, which will ensure the best results.

Thick hair is the envy of women who don’t have it, but often the bane of those who do. These difficult tresses often end up being worn in a ponytail just because the owner doesn’t know how else to cope. If that’s you, never fear: with the right haircut, your mane can become a lot more versatile. If your hair often seems like a wild animal you just can’t tame, let’s talk a few strategies to transform it into the smooth, fun locks you’ve been waiting for. Bangs Bangs do wonders for thick hair. For one thing, they frame your face better, so that instead of two huge curtains on either side, you have a style that wraps around more. This is perfect for oval or square faces that tend to look stretched out with just a middle part and hair on either side. Plus, when you cut bangs, you remove a significant amount from the overall mass, so they pull double duty. Layering Layering is the classic technique to make thick hair more manageable. Whether you’re going for a shoulder-length style or a mid-back coiffure, layers can take some of that square heaviness out of especially thick or coarse hair. Long Length When you have thick hair, length is your friend. While it’s tempting to chop in response to the frustrating weight, don’t do it. Long hair performs many services for you. It weighs down troublesome curls, gives your hair a smoother shape (no one likes the blunt thick-hair triangle bob, right?) and pulls annoying body out for a sleeker look overall. Thinning If longer length and layering aren’t enough to weigh hair down and calm that body, try thinning shears. These are specially made to cut right through sections of hair to thin it without creating the chopping look that happens when you try to thin with regular scissors. Don’t spend any more time hating on your thick hair. Instead, ring your stylist, explain what you need and make an appointment. They can tailor the plan even more carefully to your hair type and needs, and before you know it, you’ll love your locks again.

After being pulled from the market approximately four years ago, Biore's Self Heating One Minute Mask has returned - with a facelift. Does it perform?
Blackhead strips work in minutes to remove blackheads from just about any area on the face. Some masks are made to remove blackheads, but they do not always work as quickly as the strips. If you are planning to remove blackheads using blackhead strips, you may choose to follow this up with a normal cleansing mask or mud mask to avoid any potential...
You have to try this blackhead removing face mask -- it's gross and amazing.

If you’ve decided to dye your hair, chances are you’d like it to look as natural as possible … assuming you’re not going for candy pink, that is. Even then, there are a few rules of the road when it comes to choosing a color that will work for you. Follow these steps, and you’re much likelier to walk away from the salon without regret. Match Yourself to a Celebrity The A-listers know what they’re doing. Not only do they dye their hair like it’s their job (oh wait, it is), they have the best aestheticians in the industry to help them do it. You can start by looking through pictures of your favorite actors and actresses to find the colors you like. Understand Your Skin Tone: Warm or Cool? Once you have a clearer idea of the hue you’re looking for, it’s time to do a little skin tone research. Hold a piece of white printer paper up to your face and check out your skin. If it looks yellow, you have a warm complexion. If it’s rosy or bluish, you have a cool complexion. If it looks gray, your complexion is neutral. Pick the Opposite Temperature Now it’s time to pick the color, which should be in the opposite direction on the temperature scale. If you have warm skin, go for a cool tone – ice blond, bluish-black or reds with a lot of purple in them. Cooler skin tones do well with rich hues such as honey or espresso. If you have a neutral complexion, the world is your oyster! Get a Professional Makeup Artist’s Advice Last but not least, always ask a stylist for advice before coloring your hair, then set up an appointment to have it done professionally. Many people will need to bleach their hair before adding color, and that’s not something you want to do at home. Plus, your stylist can warn you away from any colors that might not suit. That’s all, folks! Your brief mini-guide to complexion-friendly hair color. Make sure you whip this out next time you’re considering switching hue.

As seen on the runways, fall 2017 makeup looks are bold, colorful and rebellious. Fall makeup is freeing with no strict set of in or out colors. While shimmery metallics, jewel tones and dark berries painted models’ faces, so did 70s-inspired bright oranges, blues, yellows and greens. Channel your inner child – playing with makeup and coloring outside the lines – and mix in some fashion savvy for head-turning beauty. Colorful Fall Eye Shadows Color-blocking is not just for that slimming dress. The top designers embraced color-block eye shadow to varying degrees. Oscar de la Renta kept it subtle with a line of fuchsia surrounded by violet while Emilio de la Morena went for it with thick lines of orange, blue and white. If you want to dip your toes into the trend before diving in, wear a smudge of crimson in the middle of a smokey eye. Also, anything that glitters under the lights of Studio 54 is en vogue again. Sparkle with metallic golds, silvers, bronzes and colorful jewel tones. With these colors, you can delicately line the whole eyes or use shadow sticks to create long wingtips or block smudges under the eyes. Dramatic Eyeliner Art Be bold, brave beauty. Dramatic cat eyes, thick wingtips and skinny lines just below the eyebrows are all part of fall’s eyeliner art. If you’ve ever wanted to embrace your dark side, take a page from Versace’s book with thick, villainous eyeliner that tips up to the outside corners of the brows. To balance such a heavy look, draw a single liquid line on the lower lid. Spider lashes have also crept into the season. Reminiscent of Twiggy’s signature style, this trend uses liner to draw long lower lashes. Balance the look with nude lips, soft shadow and minimal top lashes. Luscious Fall Lips You know that look after a make-out sesh? Smudged lipstick that lets everyone know what you’ve been up to? That’s the sexy look for fall, as seen on models for Giambattista Valli, Gypsy Sport, and Rosie Assoulin. Try the look in a red or berry using either a matte or gloss. Dark, gothic lips created with matte berries, crimsons and browns are also on trend. Purple and blue lips are the most fashion-forward fall looks.

One of the most frequently requested day spa services is a facial. Even if you’ve had a facial treatment in the past, you may still have some questions about the various kinds of available facials. What are Facials For? Facials can offer several skin care benefits, including relaxation, improved skin circulation, cell sloughing and rejuvenation, moisturizer, and an overall improved skin condition. The specific benefits of a facial treatments depend on the ingredients as well as any additional manual techniques, such as massage, used to administer the facial. Repêchage Four Layer Facial This facial treatment has been featured in Vogue Magazine and other periodicals, and is widely considered to be the most advanced anti-aging facial. It involves using a Vitamin C cleanser, a proprietary seaweed formulation, glycolic acid, and a Vitamin B formula. It’s finished with European massage. Classic European Facial This facial treatment includes gentle cleansing to remove makeup and dirt, a skin analysis, and some light pore extraction if needed. The skin is then exfoliated with a scrub, followed by a massage. A mask may be applied with ingredients such as cooling cucumber, after which the skin is cleansed again and hydrated with a moisturizer. The facial often finishes with a layer of UV protection in the form of a mist or lotion. Acne Facial Acne facials are good for skin that is prone to breakouts. Since this type of skin is typical of younger people, it involves more rigorous treatment and ingredients than a classic face treatment. Acne facials will usually start with a steam and deep cleansing, followed by extensive pore extraction. Formulations containing enzymes and glycolic acid are used in turn to improve and balance skin’s natural oils. An anti-bacterial mask or cream will then be applied, followed by a toner. After A Facial Your skin will feel smooth and refreshed after a facial treatment. There will typically be enhanced rosiness due to the elevated circulation. Some people will experience a breakout or two, since toxins are released during facials. Follow your day spa aesthetician’s instructions for follow up care of your skin after your facial. This may include things like avoiding sun and makeup for 24 hours. Spas often offer specialized or variations of classic facial treatments. Don’t be afraid to experiment with different kinds of facials, as this can renew tired skin and provide a variety of helpful nutrients. Ask your day spa aesthetician for recommendations the next time you visit.
